February in Pictures

As I wrote last week, February was crazy, but I didn't want to end the month without some pictures.

These pictures were taken a couple of weekends ago when we took a day trip to Raleigh.  The girls were troopers and went all day without a nap, including a 2 + hour drive both ways, and then a visit to the mall and Trader Joe's.  They entertained themselves with our sunglasses and Elmo on the DVD player (their new favorite).

Also, this is Josie's new "smile for the picture" face.
And finally, a couple more of Piper playing over the weekend.

Happy soon-to-be March!  Next month will feature a big move and a big marathon!

Pumpkins and Playing

Oh October, you are slipping away from us so quickly!  I know fall is lovely everywhere, but I think it might be particularly nice here in North Carolina after the sweltering heat and humidity of summertime.  We have been spending some time at the local park/pumpkin patch downtown.

Josie got pretty brave here and used some of the skills she learned at gymnastics to hang on the bar all by herself.

And Piper did some climbing.  Something I'm pretty sure she will want to do from now on over and over and over again.

Checking out the pumpkins.  All different shapes and sizes.
And of course swinging away.

Namaste

We have been practicing some yoga at night before bed.  Josie and Piper have some very nice looking downward dogs!

Who says girls can't play with cars? And bears

A few times lately, while playing with boys (!), the girls have taken quite an interest in their friends' cars.  They get down on their tummies and race them around.  I don't know why I never thought to get them cars (gender discrimination), but we decided to fix that and bought some at target last weekend.  They have been having some fun with them:

Also, sometime last winter, the Koupals and Nana brought them their big brown bear back from a trip to Richmond.  We named him Joper.  Unfortunately, during a long weekend of household puking and pooping, Joper was repeatedly vomited on by Josie.  We got him cleaned, but he has never been quite the same.  Nana sent them two new big bears a few weeks ago.  They don't have names yet - just big bear - but the girls love them.  They throw themselves on them while playing and sometimes lie down on them to take a little breather.

Our New Ride

Josie and Piper got a new ride a couple of weeks ago.  We take a lot of walks around here and the stroller was getting old.  The wagon is fun because they can face each other and play together (or annoy each other).  Last weekend, we all went out to the farmer's market with the wagon.  The girls always get lots of attention.  One nice man gave them a couple of little American flags to wave, so we walked through the market with our flags in the wagon.

Rise and shine

Every morning, we bring the girls their milk to drink in their cribs before they 'get up'.  It's like their morning coffee and they're a little cranky until they drink it.  But as soon as it's out of the way, they pop up for some playtime.  When I go in there to get them 20 minutes later, they have usually thrown both sippy cups into each other's cribs, as well as all the 'friends' they sleep with.  On this particular morning I decided to spy on their little game.

This is Piper's crib.  Both teddy bears that daddy bought while they were in the NICU ended up in there this morning, as well as Josie's doggy lovey.  Both sippy cups got thrown on the floor.  Sometimes I am not really sure who drank what milk.  I sat there and watched them pass everything back and forth to each other about five times.

Josie is ready to get up.

The one thing Piper won't give up is the green frog.  She loves that thing!  She usually brings it to her high chair with her to eat breakfast.

Weekend Fun

It was a busy weekend around here. Josie and Piper have a new playroom we spent lots of time in. We also had Dwight here visiting for the weekend and a minor disaster after he ate one of Jackson's pain pills. It doesn't bode well when a four-pound dog eats a 110-pound dog's medication! Luckily, the emergency vet did his job and Dwight is a-okay. We also read some books and did more running.

Piper with a girly bow in her hair. Two bottom teeth are almost all in!

Josie with her bow. Now teeth yet, but she says "na na na na"

We have more than 600 miles together in the BOB stroller!

Playing in the new playroom!
